Last night, upon recommendations from our last event, we changed up our Monthly Sold Out Ladies Night by having a Wine, Cheese & Charcuterie Tasting - with a Twist... We had a 'Blind Wine Tasting' between 2 reds and 2 whites. Here are the details of each for your reference:
Palacio Quemado - Reserva 2010
D.O. Ribera del Guadiana
Old World - Spanish
Colour - red cherry
Body/Structure - full
Nose - "complex with cassis and blackberry aromas and an elegant toasted and spicy background”
Palate - “Rounded and very well balance with a fresh and long finish."
Pairing - Specific. Drink with grilled sirloin, aged cheese, roasted beef and lamb.
Cloud Nine - Willamette Valley 2013
New World - Oregon
Colour - brilliant ruby
Body/Structure - medium
Nose - “bright red and black cherries, with a framework of cola nut and ripe dark fruit.
Palate - “Tannins are soft and the finish is grateful."
Pairing - Very versatile. Drink with poultry, beef, fish, ham, lamb and pork. Creamy causes, spicy seasonings
Drouhin Vaudon - Reserve de Vaudon 2014
Old World - French
Colour - Brilliant yellow colour, with hints of green.
Body/Structure - “Soft, round, well balanced."
Nose - “Typical Chablis nose, where aromas of citrus (lemon) fern and even salty sensations predominate."
Palate - “Vigorous and lively, but in a soft mode. A lot of finesse and balance."
Pairing - Very specific. Best with fish or shellfish.
Joie Farm - Pure Grape 2015
New World - Naramata, Okanagan Valley
Colour - Warm Mellow Yellow.
Body/Structure - medium-bodied and slightly off-dry with mouthwatering acidity.
Nose - “Intensely aromatic varietal, both floral and fruity. Which is why we call our Muscat, The Pure Grape."
Palate - "Cleansing and elegant, with a lingering aftertaste of lemon and mineral."
Pairing - “The muscat is delicious as an aperitif with salty olives, prosciutto, pecorino cheese or with a fish, at it’s freshest as a in a Scallop tartare or spot prawn ceviche."
